JD Carla 002

. Beldam Carla x Round x GPH001 — The Return of Pure Carla

This marks the second batch of pure Carla from the legendary Beldam Carla line , a project close to my heart and one I’ve been eager to revisit. This time, I paired her with Round x GPH001, creating a union that continues to push the Carla line toward even greater refinement.

Unlike @GayplantHause, who organizes by mother plants, I catalog my batches by cross number , this one designated JD002. Every number tells a story, marking not just a pairing, but a deliberate choice in direction , a step forward in shaping the next evolution of Carla.

The mother, Beldam Carla, earned her name from the dark, mysterious character in Coraline a nod to her hauntingly beautiful form but named after a spider monster. She is a large, round Carla that holds a delicate, spidery vein pattern , always minimal yet elegant, never overbearing. Her leaves express balance: bold in shape but whisper-soft in texture, with a quiet symmetry that reveals itself over time.

The father, Round x GPH001, is smaller in stature but commands attention with his deeply dark foliage and sleek, narrow form. He carries an intensity that contrasts beautifully with the Beldam’s composure , a perfect yin and yang of the Carla world. Where the mother radiates calm sophistication, the father brings a sharper edge and modernity to the pairing.

Two minimal-vein Carlablackeai types coming together promises something extraordinary. I expect this batch to produce refined, sculptural leaves with clean venation, deep shadow tones, and an undeniable Carla presence. The kind of anthuriums that don’t scream for attention but quietly draw you in  sophisticated, dark, and timeless.

This batch feels like more than a continuation it’s a celebration of the Carla legacy. For those who understand the subtle magic of this lineage, JD002 will hold some of the finest expressions yet.
